in the Tweed Valley (79AD - 185AD) guarding the river crossing at
Leaderfoot. The lofty signal station site (dirch, bank and cairn) sits
beside the old tribal capital on the plateau of Eildon Hill North.

Walk the Roman Way
Come and join the guided easy 5 mile walk from Melrose Square
Heritage Centre (Thursdays: April to October & Tuesdays: July and
August) at 1.30 pm to Newstead (Roman Tri-montium)
See and hear and ask about the Mercat Cross, the Town Hall, Melrose
Abbey south front, the pig with the bagpipes, Robert the Bruce's Heart
, The Prior's and Stonemasons' walk, Admiral Fairfax and his Lady, the
Masonic Stone, the Queen's Corner, the North Eildon Bronze Age 'Town',
Roman milestone, fort, annexes, amphitheatre, Leaderfoot Viaduct
bridges and ferry.
Enjoy village tea or coffee and comfort stop then retrace your steps to Melrose or return by the riverside (and the Monk's Walltop).
